Compound Reaction is the result of 3 musical substances merging together in order to create a new dance floor experience. With an advanced 3x4x4 dj setup, and their 3 unique approaches to the craft of mixing; Brian Thomas, Rhines, and JP are conducting an experiment on the entire system. During play these 3 are constantly flicking switches, cutting faders, scratching tones, and effecting beats. Their tech-funk-progressive-electro mix of house and breaks is aimed to poke holes in genres and explore undiscovered Musical territory. This is Audio Science. JP _ In 2003, JP and his friend Rhines started throwing small little parties at their home, affectionately known as "The Compound". As time went on more and more people caught wind of the underground after hours house, and with the help of Jason Blakemore became infamous. He found himself playing along side DJ's like John Kelley, DJ Trance and Simply Jeff. Many local DJ's, that are playing the party, were a huge part of the success of The Compound. _ Detroit Bar would be where the party started and The Compound is where it ended. The magnitude of the parties could only be measured by the people who were there. In 2005 JP and Rhines first played Detroit Bar, and it has been home ever since to them. They bring the energy of the compound to the dance floor every where they go, but home is where the heart is! |

Rhines _ From the early years of house parties at the Compound, to club gigs in and around Orange County and the Los Angeles area, to outdoor events all over Southern California and Mexico, and bookings in some of the best venues Los Angeles has, Rhines has honed a technique and style that is all his own. Playing prime selections of Progressive, Electro, Tech, House and Breaks, his style is difficult to pin down, as his sets tend to defy the idea of genres, incorporating multiple styles into a fluid, cohesive mixed set that becomes something new every time. A love for rhythm and syncopation, movement and energy, and that deep, dark and dirty bass has always been the driving force behind his mixing, programming, and track selection. _ Mainly playing alongside his DJ partner, JP, the tag team dynamic duo have annihilated every dance floor put in front of them, continually taking their sets to the next level. They have won the love, devotion, and support of many fans all over the area. Mark Zabala _Mark Zabala plays a wide variety of styles, but he tends towards dirty, driving, techy and psychedelic sounds mixed in with a good dose of percussive, glitched-out funk. It seems like Mark Zabala was destined to love electronic music. _ His earliest musical memories involved listening to his mother's cassette tape of Kraftwerk's album "Computer World." When he wasn't mimicking the robotic voices or the blips and beeps of that album, electronic noises were still working their way into his subconscious as he spent hours in front of the latest videogames or chaotically jamming with his Yamaha keyboard. In 1992,his older cousin introduced him into the fast-paced world of the Rave. He became hopelessly addicted to the hard acid sounds of her mixtapes and the short-lived Los Angeles electronic dance music radio station MARS FM. From there, he started snatching up compilation CDs and electronic dance albums left and right. _ Mark acquired turntables in 1999 and his DJ career officially began. He began spinning a very hard form of acid trance, known as Freeform Hardcore, under the alias "Qwiki." His love for the outdoors pushed him to form a new forest and desert party crew known as Phreatic which eventually led to the formation of the underground TRIP crew. During his time in TRIP, "Qwiki" realized that his energetic, fast-paced music did not mix entirely well with the outdoors, so he began to spin music that excited him in any environment. He dropped his DJ alias and began to spin hard, percussive, funky, techno with elements of psytrance and house thrown in. _ In 2005, Mark Zabala was recruited alongside some of Southern California's leading talent to form the Ninja Skillz crew. Ninja Skillz has risen to the forefront of the Underground Community with successful appearances at major LA nightclubs like Spundae @ Circus, Giant @ Vanguard, four sold out festivals in Mexico, The Hollywood Palladium, and several outdoor events all over the West Coast. It is the firm commitment of the Ninja Skillz Clan to bring together all manner of art, media, and culture to create multi-sensory, transcendent experiences. By combining diverse dancers, visual artists, circus performers, fire dancers, gods, goddesses, muses, and madmen, Ninja Skillz will continue to be a weapon against the mundane. |

Ben Annand _ Ben Annand began djing in 1996, shortly after starting work as a high-school substitute teacher. Writing Mr. Annand on the board when he entered class every day, he decided to use this as his dj name. _ Ben started Tropical in 1998, with the goal of bringing quality production and music to a small house party, using tropical as the decorative theme. In the past 10 years Ben has organized 47 Tropical parties on land and sea. _ Since 1998, Ben has been resident dj at both
Tropical and Moontribe, the famed full-moon gathering in the Mojave
desert. He has performed frequently both nationally and internationally

Gilley _ Gilley AKA Guillermo Montero is characterized for
his love all of all things new and different. His impeccable taste
in music has seen him searching and craving for the darkest of the
obscure to the weirdest quirkiest sounds. Never happy or satisfied
with the ordinary he's constantly bored and under stimulated but
always able to find those tracks that are uniquely interesting. He
compares his style to Lee Burridge, Damian Lazarus, Justin Martin
and others who try to keep it interesting by blending genres and
focusing in the technical aspect of mixing rather than dropping bombs
that people are familiar with to expect a reaction from the crowd.
He has played in South America, (where he is originally from) Mexico
and spins occasionally at random small parties in OC and LA. A lover
of the underground and a clown when he's not behind the decks. |

Eddie B _ Eddie Barajas - Eddie has had an obsession with music since his first recollections, buying old 80's and new wave records in thrift stores. Rounding his musical upbringing were his two older brothers introducing their baby brother to all the great bands with "the" as a prefix; Rolling Stones, Doors, Beatles, Who, Pretenders, Clash, Police, amongst others and MTV. His high school years were blessed with the inception of an electronic music station MARS FM and treated to the likes of Swedish Egil, Tony Largo, and others. These shows schooled him in electronic and underground music that would prove to be the foundation for his appreciation of the mighty DJ, and a style of music that he came to know as HOUSE music. _ Eddie has played along side Derrick
Carter, Doc Martin, DJ Heather, Lance Desardi, JT Donaldson, Chuck
Daniels, The Littlemen (UK), Special Interest (UK), Fries & Bridges
(France, US), Marques Wyatt, Andrew Macari, Diz, Jason Hodges, The
Rurals, Slater Hogan/John Larner, amongst many others. Eddie B has
been a musical force in Los Angeles for quite some time now, and if
you don’t already know him from his project HAWT, you may know
him as part of a local down-tempo band called UNA. In fact, UNA's LP
one made Mediaguide Top Debut for an Unsigned Band and made KCRW 89.9
FM-LA Top 20 and Top Tune of the Day. Eddie is truly a “naturally” talented
musician and are excited to have him on our lineup. |
