John Kelley
(Moontribe, Ball Of Waxx, Phonomental - Los Angeles)

_For the past decade, Los Angeles native John Kelley has been considered one of North America’s foremost breaks DJs - a true pioneer of the West Coast sound. Over the past few years, he has been busy perfecting a selection of edgy, well-crafted tracks that combine his signature desert breaks with a new flavor of hard tech-hop and broken beats. The release of his debut artist album, “A Night in the Park”, marks a new chapter in Kelley’s long-standing career and, most notably, his transformation from DJ to world-class producer.

_ John Kelley was originally known for his sets at Full Moon Gatherings. The influential series of raves held in the deserts outside Los Angeles during the mid-'90s created an emergent sound, led by breakout producers like Crystal Method, Überzone, Bassbin Twins, and Electric Skychurch. Fused with the breakbeat genius of UK acts such as Leftfield and Underworld, Kelley pushed the intensely funky, hard sound of breakbeat techno from the underground into the masses.

_ In 1996, Kelley released, Funkydesertbreaks, his first mix album with Moonshine Music patterned after his desert sets. The compilation became an instant hit, sparked a US tour and spawned a sequel one year later. With 1998’s “Knee Deep”, he exhibited a transition into a more club-friendly mix of house, techno, trance and breakbeats. The release of “High Desert Soundsystem” and “High Desert Soundsystem 2”, released in 1999 and 2000 launched a number of tours with The Crystal Method, Orbital, Carl Cox, Frankie Bones, Darude, and Christopher Lawrence. The well received mix, “United DJs of America 19”, followed in 2001 and went on to become nominated at the 2002 Winter Music Conference as one of the best DJ mix albums of 2001.

_ After five grueling years on tour, Kelley began to focus on writing his own music. Along with friend David deLaski (aka Lord Runningclam), Kelley launched the label and production company Ball of Waxx in 2002.

_Teaming up with the studio talents of deLaski, Simply Jeff, Moontribe’s Brian Seed, and Brian Saitzyk (aka Eastern Sun), Kelley created a multitude of productions, including two songs on the Ball of Waxx downtempo compilation “Groove Closet”. With the success of the collaboration, Eastern Sun and Kelley followed up in early 2005 with a full-length downtempo CD, “In Emptiness”. Meanwhile, the team of Kelley, Saitzyk and Brian Seed embarked on creating techno breakbeat tracks for John’s debut artist release.

Brian Seed
(Moontribe, Ritual Sounds - Los Angeles)

_ In 1995, Brian Seed (aka DJ Brian) became the first DJ to join Daniel and John Kelley as resident djs for Moontribe's legendary Full Moon gatherings. Since then he has built an international following spinning breaks, acid house, trance, tribal, and progressive techno. His sound is never pinned down to one style, but his ear is unique and dj sets are unlike anyone else- often breaking down musical boundaries instead of being trapped by them.

_ His productions are equally unique and his sets consist of lots of original material. In 2002 Brian formed Ritual Sounds as a place to release his and others’ music. As Seed, Brian has released 12”s and remixes on Fade, Virgin, Pacific Front, Desert Trax, Interscope, System, Moonshine, Six Degrees, Ball of Waxx, and many releases for Ritual Sounds.

_ As a DJ he has released three “Hardesertrtance” mix CD’s and “Psychotrance 2002” on Moonshine Music, and other compilations for Ball of Waxx, Fragrant, and Phatt Phunk. His talent for creating and producing music has taken him well beyond the dancefloor. He has years of experience in bringing the crowd to new levels and he has an ear for what moves people-both body and mind.

_ Brian’s a versatile talent not just in music. In 2007, he started Everytone Music to handle music licensing and supervision, audio post-production and custom composition. He’s an accomplished sound designer, mixer, music supervisor and composer for TV, films, video games and commercials, and is always looking to take his many crafts to the next level.

DJ MELEE
(Monism - Boston)

_ Decades pass like minutes when you do what you love. Just ask Jason Giacoppo, the artist known worldwide as DJ Melee. As a promoter, performer, and architect of the New England music since 1997, few others have poured the blood, sweat and sacrifice it takes to turn a lifestyle into a career.

_ By day, Melee climbed the ladder to General Manager of Satellite Records Boston and Mass Music, balancing his duties as promotions manager and resident DJ for the award-winning Avalon Boston, Regional Director for the Red Bull Music Academy, all while maintaining a busy schedule of DJ performances by night. Between this activity and Hosting Boston's #1 Breaks/Tech-Funk weekly,Tension, Melee has played alongside the top of the top including:James Zabiela, Carl Cox, Elite Force, Meat Katie, Rogue Element, Kid Blue, and 30hz, and many more! Recently, he also helped launch one of the city's most exciting culture-fused clothing and music stores, Limited Apparel Brand (LAB) Boston. For most, this would be a full plate. For Melee, too much is never enough.

_ Always the glutton workhorse, Melee has set himself to his next big project: launching and co-managing a full-blown imprint, Monism Music. With his labelmate, the mighty artist known simply as MO7S, Melee will finally be able to focus his efforts to his own ends, no longer having his potential solely reaped by others. Stay tuned, there is much in store from Melee in the coming years as he continues to incubate ideas and hatch domination.

M07S
(Monism, Phonomental - Los Angeles/Boston)

_ Shortly after attending early 90's warehouse raves in New York and Southern New England, then aspiring scratch dj, Stephen Manders, began to search within bins of record shops in New England. Pioneers such as Fred Gianelli, aka The Kooky Scientist, inspired him with Old vs. N.E.A.U. (New England Acid Underground) not to mention the Floridian breakbeat of the Bassbin Twins. This melting pot of techno and breakbeat would form the core of his sound. With the storm raves and nasau days soon to be gone the scene began penetrating New England more and more leaving oppurtunity to young bucks such as himself to get a chance at playing out. At only 16, he was thrown into the mix by his mentors, playing back rooms, and opening up smaller raves. But it wouldnt be long before he was respected in the circuit as one of New Englands major players. By age 18, he was a buyer for Boston's Satellite Records, by 19 a resident at Avaland Boston, and by 20, opening for mainstream acts at cross over style festivals all over North America, as well as contributing to publications such as BPM and Rinse.

_ Around this time he became very close friends with California's Simply Jeff. Jeff proposed that he eventually move west in search of greater accomplishments. At 23 he did, after a short stint living abroad New England, he packed his bags and headed west, to work with Simply Jeff, as well as becoming certified by Apple Computer in Logic 7 pro. And if that wasnt enough, and old friend from Boston was now an audio engineer at Avalon Hollywood, scoring Stephen a prime oppurtunity to play and work alongside the very best in the industry, from working alongside Sasha, Hybrid, Nick Warren,Adam Freeland, and Green Velvet as a dj and a live audio engineer.

_ Now at 26, he has left Apple, left Avalon, and has began working on a new digital and vinyl imprint known as Monism Music, as well as continuing to A&R for Simply Jeffs Phonomental Music. And to boot, during the day he's working on the set of Americas favorite cartoon.

Eva
(BROKE On Sundays, DADEaBASS/DME - Los Angeles)

_ Eva’s east coast roots have helped her mould her taste in dark, dirty and raw breaks, which consistently inhabit her crate. With a little help from her friends, she’s been pulled (somewhat) out of the shadows and has found some salvation in the funk, without giving up her evil roots… or her undying dedication to the heavy bass.

_ Her stylized selections of have brought her to audiences around the nation including New York, Chicago, Florida, New Mexico, her hometown of Boston and all throughout California, including holding weekly residencies at The Room in Hollywood and The Little Rock in the SVF, as well as a monthly residency at Star Shoes Hollywood as one half of her other musical project, the electro bass duo Kimchee Love.

_ In addition to a rigorous solo dj schedule her most recent collaborative effort is the breakbeat weekly BROKE on Sundays, helping keep the breakbeat vibe alive in los angeles since early 07 with the help of weekly headliners and special guests such as Simply Jeff, Reid Speed, General Midi, Faust & Shortee, Future Funk Squad, APX-1 and many more in between.

_ Look for her as she continues to rinse out sweaty crowds across the nation.

Ground Control
(BROKE On Sundays, en:vision recordings - Los Angeles)

_ Jason Apple, aka Ground_Control, has been making music for well over a decade. After a brief and ill-advised stint making indie rock, he fell in love with breakbeats and electronic dance music. A quick turn on a college roommate's turntables and he decided to become a dj. The urge to make his own tunes quickly followed, fuelled by a love of heavy beats, bleeps, and noises that go wobble.

_ Currently based in Los Angeles, Ground_Control's eclectic sets of dirty house, glitched-up breaks, and hip hop have him playing up and down the west coast of the US, while his residency at LA's premiere breaks weekly, Broke on Sundays, keeps the hometown crowds satisfied.

DJ Matt Foster
(Zap!, Rinse - OC/Los Angeles)

_ Matt moved from the gloomy but fondly loved cities of Northern England in search of the sun, sand, seas and scene of the US West Coast, in 2004.

_ His great passion for music led him into regular DJing in his local Costa Mesa area where he has been dropping his eclectic sounds of dub-infused acid and experimental future funk in an aim to help forge a vibrant music scene across the sprawling 'burbs of Orange County.

_ He's looking forward to joining the Re-vent crew and amalgamating some fresh musical activism to Detroit Bar.

Brian Thomas
(CR3, DJ Culture, ReVents)

_ Brian Thomas Lee, better known locally as Brian Thomas, has been spending the last decade of his life dedicated to our beloved scene of Electronic Music. Brian realized his love for EDM at an early age of 13 and by 14 his passion forced him to buy his first pair of turntables. From day one Brian found that he loved the integration of different genres, and the fusing of turntablism in the world of Dance Music.

_ Over the next 4 years Brian spent hours every day fine tuning his skills, and began getting regular play at several clubs and parties around the New England area. One Year later Brian made one of the most crucial choices of his life, relocating back to his birthplace of Orange County, California. Upon arrival Brian realized he was living 10 minutes from the local record shop, DJ Culture. After a year of frequenting the store, Brian was offered a position of Sales Rep.

_ Brian spent the next 3 years having first sight of every record to come through the doors of DJ Culture, thus developing a remarkable knowledge for all types of Dance Music. This is when Brian really began to find a style he could call his own. Through his fluid blend of Tech-Funk, Breaks, Acid Tech-House, Minimal and Turntablism Brian began to rock parties all over So-Cal. Brian's High Energy, Multi Genre Filled sets began to turn heads and thus earning him spots playing alongside such acts as Simply Jeff, Doc Martin, Nigel Richards Charles Feelgood, and Q-Burns Abstract Message to name a few.

_ Now still only 24, Brian is applying his extensive knowledge of the scene into event and music production. Brian has been in the studio for the past two years polishing his tracks, and has recently signed his first release "The Drop" to Monism Music. On the event production side, Brian is co-creator of the ReVents crew, which is dedicated to "Re-Defining" Orange County nightlife.

"We are creating a vibe where all different types of music can co-exist, and a place where our diverse crowd can call home."

Rhines
(Ninjaskillz, CR3, DJ Culture, ReVents)

_ From the early years of house parties at the Compound, to club gigs in and around Orange County and the Los Angeles area, to outdoor events all over Southern California and Mexico, and bookings in some of the best venues Los Angeles has, Rhines has honed a technique and style that is all his own.  Playing prime selections of Progressive, Electro, Tech, House and Breaks, his style is difficult to pin down, as his sets tend to defy the idea of genres, incorporating multiple styles into a fluid, cohesive mixed set that becomes something new every time. A love for rhythm and syncopation, movement and energy, and that deep, dark and dirty bass has always been the driving force behind his mixing, programming, and track selection.

_ Mainly playing alongside his DJ partner, JP, the tag team dynamic duo have annihilated every dance floor put in front of them, continually taking their sets to the next level. They have won the love, devotion, and support of many fans all over the area. Known for their spontaneous, energy infused, and heavily effected sets, the tag-team combo of JP & Rhines make each track they drop their own. Break the Beat or Four to the Floor... these two are highly skilled in the art of cutting the edge, and are tapping into new dimensions of aural satisfaction with their infectious sound.

_ With affiliations and ongoing collaboration with Innerflight Music, Ninjaskillz Music, DJ Culture, and a few others, Rhines has cemented a solid foundation for throwing collaborative events and underground parties.  He is always moving forward, listening and looking into the future, with no end in sight, as his DJ career is undeniably heading toward bigger and better things with every appearance.

JP
(Ninjaskillz, (C+R)3, Compound)

_ In 2003, JP and his friend Rhines started throwing small little parties at their home, affectionately known as "The Compound". As time went on more and more people caught wind of the underground after hours house, and with the help of Jason Blakemore became infamous. He found himself playing along side DJ's like John Kelley, DJ Trance and Simply Jeff. Many local DJ's, that are playing the party, were a huge part of the success of The Compound.

_ Detroit Bar would be where the party started and The Compound is where it ended. The magnitude of the parties could only be measured by the people who were there. In 2005 JP and Rhines first played Detroit Bar, and it has been home ever since to them. They bring the energy of the compound to the dance floor every where they go, but home is where the heart is!
